Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a safe and happy new year!  As we begin the Year of the Ox, we are also beginning our third year as the Bluestockings Bookclub!  So for those of you who have been a member since the beginning or have joined along the way, thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm for reading with us all.  It's truly been a pleasure and I look forward to our monthly meetings regardless of how terrible the book may have been!  Hahahaha!  To those members just joining us, Shayna and Evelyn, I welcome you and know you too will make fantastic additions to the club and hope you enjoy the good reads and the bad reads as much as we all do too!

Our November meeting and Gift Exchange held December 3rd was fantastic!  Thanks for the always scrumptuous food, Siri!  I love to see what creative gifts you all come up with based on the books we've read.  This year some of the gifts were Scripps Aquarium tickets (Highest Tide), gallon jugs of wine (Tortilla Flat) for us paisanos!, and a cookbook (which was stolen from me!!!!  boohoo! Like Water for Chocolate).  I'm already looking forward to the end of the year when we will have our next Gift Exchange.

I am sending updated copies of the contact list and the remaining books scheduled for this round of reading to everyone's email address.  We have books scheduled thru May.  So I am thinking we will hold our Annual BBQ voting meeting early May to plan the next round of books.  I know it's a few months away, but it doesn't hurt to start thinking about the two books you'd like to suggest :)  It's always a challenge for me to decide the two books out of the many books I'd like to read!

Our next meeting will be held January 28th and hosted by Heather.  The book: Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez and Kristin Ohlson.  Maybe we'll be sampling some of the yummy recipes from the book stolen from me!!!  See you then!
